In 2014, InsideTrack partnered with Indiana’s Ivy Tech Community College to provide coaching for first-year 21st Century Scholars. In our first report on results, published in our initial 2017 case study, we showed that persistence among coached students increased by 33 percent. As the partnership continued, insights generated through coaching drove improvements to Ivy Tech’s student support program, which has in turn improved outcomes for all students at the institution.

The Challenge
Continue to increase persistence, engagement and success of first-generation and low-income students while making sustainable institutional improvements that benefit all students.
The Solution
Coaching generated insights into the student experience that informed changes to the student support program. For example, when coaches realized students were confused by scholarship policies, Ivy Tech created short explanatory videos and updated information packets. When coaches learned of an issue requiring escalation, they helped coordinate cross-functional communication to offer the student a quicker resolution.
