Top Professional and Online Education Association Partners with InsideTrack to Offer Career Coaching Tailored to Working Adults

Coaching experts at InsideTrack launch career services offering for students and alumni of UPCEA member institutions to support career development

UPCEA, the leading association for professional, continuing, and online education, today announced a partnership with InsideTrack to provide direct-to-student career coaching services for students and alumni at its more than 400 member institutions. The new service, available at provides access to coaches experienced in supporting working adults with the creation and execution of career action plans based on their unique experience and goals.

Career outcomes are under increasing scrutiny in higher education, particularly in programs serving post-traditional learners. Unfortunately, the career services functions at most institutions are not designed to support students returning to higher education from the working world.

InsideTrack is the nation’s leading provider of student coaching services and has coached more than 1.2 million students since its founding in 2001. A recent analysis of InsideTrack coaching records for 30,000 post-traditional students found that 56 percent cite career advancement as their primary reason for returning to college; another 12 percent cite career transition. As post-traditional learners increasingly comprise the majority of college student enrollments, demand for career services tailored to their needs will only grow. The National Center for Education Statistics, reports that nearly 75% of undergraduates have at least one non-traditional characteristic, such as working full-time or having dependents.

“Transitioning to a new job or career is often the single most important motivation for the contemporary students our member institutions serve. For millions of working Americans, post-secondary education is a platform for economic mobility and personal fulfillment,” said Robert Hansen, CEO of UPCEA. “InsideTrack career coaching offers UPCEA member institutions a channel to improve the career services they provide students and alumni, to help them develop crucial skills and land positions in rewarding professions.”

The career coaching service provides students and alumni the benefits of personalized coaching, helping them build the confidence and skills needed to succeed in the workplace. The technology-enabled service combines professional career coaching with interactive content, available on-demand from any computer, tablet or smart phone. Through InsideTrack’s innovative uCoach® platform, professional coaches provide students and graduates guidance and feedback, along with on-demand access to interactive career readiness modules on critical topics, including Networking, Interviews and Landing the Job.

In a recent survey of adult students at an Ivy League continuing and professional studies program, 95% of the students engaged in InsideTrack Career Coaching agreed that it helped them make progress towards their career goals.

“College students represent an increasingly diverse cross-section of Americans, from parents and full-time workers to active duty military members and veterans,” said Pete Wheelan, CEO of InsideTrack. “UPCEA has been a staunch advocate for increasing access and quality for these contemporary learners, and we are honored to be working with them to enhance career outcomes for this critical and growing student population.”
