Online learning pioneer Excelsior College first to license technology and analytics platform from leader in student success coaching
InsideTrack, the student support innovator that has coached more than 1.2 million students across more than 1300 higher education programs, today announced it will license its uCoach® platform directly to institutions for the first time. Long recognized as the leader in student success coaching, the San Francisco-based organization will now enable its college and university clients to tap into the same technology and analytics it uses to manage coaching programs for scores of institutions nationwide.
Through InsideTrack’s proven methodology, professional coaches help students set goals, map out success plans, develop non-cognitive skills like critical thinking and time management, and graduate ready for career success. The uCoach platform enables this tailored data- and analytics-driven support to be delivered at scale by combining automated nudges, messaging, interactive coaching content, videos and mobile apps with human coaching.
The first institution to license the uCoach platform is Excelsior College, a private, non-profit institution and distance education pioneer which partnered with InsideTrack to build its new Student Success Center. Through uCoach apps, dashboards, algorithms and other features, Excelsior coaches will engage students, track their progress and ensure coaching resources are put to their most impactful use.
“In order to effectively serve working adults and other post-traditional students, Excelsior College is constantly exploring new ways to make student support more personalized and accessible,” said John F. Ebersole, President of Excelsior College. “InsideTrack’s Capacity Building program has already helped us build a world-class student support operation and their uCoach platform will enable us to operate with even greater effectiveness and scale.”
The platform supports essential coach activities and workflows via dashboards, relationship management tools and multi-channel communications features. It also supports prioritization of coaching and student interventions through adaptive roster management, which combines unique scoring algorithms, alert monitoring and intervention triggers. In addition, it offers data integration with institutional systems, including student information (SIS), learning management (LMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
InsideTrack coaching has been proven effective in hundreds of randomized controlled trials. The uCoach platform makes coaching more impactful and cost-effective by empowering coaches to engage students through a broad range of communication channels, including voice, video, email, text, mobile apps and more. It also provides analytics, roster management algorithms, automated outreach, on-demand coaching content and other features that enable coaches to make the best use of their time.
Through the uCoach mobile application, students can message back and forth with their coach, schedule coaching meetings and access a library of interactive support modules on topics ranging from admissions processes to career readiness. Available for iPhone and Android, the mobile app allows students to quickly access the support they need, anytime and anywhere.
“For many college students, staying on top of academic, financial, social and other responsibilities can be overwhelming at times. Having someone to support you and nudge you along can make all the difference,” said Ben Castleman, Assistant Professor of Education and Public Policy at the University of Virginia Curry School of Education and an expert on behavioral interventions in student success. “A well-timed message providing students with simplified information, reminders and access to help can keep students on track. InsideTrack’s uCoach platform makes it easier for student support teams to provide this outreach and track whether it leads to improved outcomes for students.”
InsideTrack developed the platform over more than a decade, drawing on the collective expertise of its more than 200 professional coaches and its team of user experience, data analytics, digital content and engineering experts.
“We’ve invested millions of dollars making the uCoach platform the ideal system for managing coaching programs and student support interactions,” said Pete Wheelan, CEO of InsideTrack. “Now, we’re excited to make it available to colleges and universities across the country who want to provide highly personalized support to all of their students in a cost-effective manner.”
InsideTrack is now offering the uCoach platform as an option to all of its Capacity Building program clients. For more information on the program, contact the Program Development team at email@example.com.
