InsideTrack Launches Coaching Service to Give SMU Students Career Edge

DALLAS (August 16, 2016) — InsideTrack, the nation’s leading provider of student coaching services, announced today a new career coaching program with Southern Methodist University (SMU) to improve career success and satisfaction among its continuing and professional education students. The program will provide personalized career development support tailored to the needs of working adults.

Over the next two years, the program will serve 450 students enrolled in certificate, professional development and enrichment courses through the University’s Division of Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE). Students will receive up to four months of personalized support from a professional career coach to assist them in defining long-term career objectives and developing critical career planning and workplace skills.

Coaches will engage students through one-to-one meetings, email, and text messaging as well as access to self-guided content through InsideTrack’s uCoach® web and mobile apps. Available from any computer, tablet or smart phone, these apps provide on-demand access to interactive career readiness content on key topics including Networking, Interviews and Landing the Job.

Since the 1950s, SMU CAPE has provided high quality, convenient, affordable and flexible educational offerings to working adults in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex through both online and on-ground courses. The new career coaching program is part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to provide the greatest possible value to students and enhance their long-term success.

“For working professionals studying at CAPE, SMU provides not only an opportunity for personal enrichment and high-impact instruction and training, but also comprehensive support to help students connect their new skills and experiences to their professional lives,” said Kimberly Rutigliano, Director of Continuing and Professional Education at SMU. “A career coaching partnership provides students with the personalized support to develop a professional edge and take their careers to the next level.”

Since its founding in 2001, InsideTrack has coached more than 1.3 million students and is currently partnered with more than 1,500 academic programs nationwide. In a recent survey of adult students engaged in InsideTrack Career Coaching at an Ivy League continuing and professional studies program, 95% of the students agreed that it helped them make progress towards their career goals.

In addition to providing personalized support for students, the coaching initiative will also generate valuable data and insights on the student experience to inform administrators, faculty and others on the factors driving student engagement and success.

“For more than sixty years, SMU has been a trailblazer in providing opportunities for personal enrichment and immersive instruction in the fields that matter to working professionals,” said Mike Embry, Associate Vice President of Program Development at InsideTrack. “It’s clear that they are committed to providing the rich educational experiences and support their students need to thrive in their careers and in life.”
